One of my highlight whilst backpacking in Peru was exploring the floating islands of Lake Titicaca. This huge lkae borders both Peru and Bolivia and sits at over 3,800 metres above sea level. The main draw to this area is the community that calls this place home. And this is due to their unique lifestyle and housing – they have literally built a community out of floating reed beds – complete with schools, shops and family ‘islands’. It’s an incredible place to explore and one of the most unique things I’ve done on the road.
This shot of a lady weaving clothes – which is their main source of income – being sold to both the visitors of the islands and also on the main lain too.
